VVX Biography

Inspired by the groundbreaking rock radio station WVVX 103.1fm (1981-1991), we are VVX — a LIVE, LOUD, and PROUD band that re-creates popular rock songs from the ‘80s.

Def Leppard, Metallica, Ozzy, Dio, Rush, Queensryche, Night Ranger, Van Halen, Whitesnake, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motley Crue, Skid Row, Tesla, and many other multiplatinum artists got their first Chicago airplay and only regional exposure due to WVVX. WVVX became a critical part of our scenes and identities; it inspired our musical influences. We each grew up listening to this amazing radio station and, because of it, performed in local rock acts during the ‘80s.

The development of VVX was a very concentrated effort. We didn't just say, "Hey, let's get a band together and play some tunes from the '80s." We thoroughly reviewed 10 years of on-air WVVX shows to develop a historically accurate and Billboard-Rated setlist. We also consulted with former WVVX disc jockeys to get their input on great song picks and playlists. They loved our concept and gave us their enthusiastic approval.

We provide a quality product and performance that is well respected by our many loyal fans, and we deliver each song with the same talent, passions, and attitudes that keep the original acts selling worldwide to this day. With over 200 songs in our current repertoire, we appeal to all ages and walks of life and can accommodate a playlist for any event’s taste and theme.
